How and what do you use to lubricate the ballscrew and linear bearing rails/blocks?

I'm using gear oil, specifically, Castrol Motorcycle Gear Oil MTX SAE 75W-80 to lubricate the screws and rails. I brush the oil on. Am I doing this right? Or should I be using grease?

Thanks.
