Subject: Z-axis compensation Sun Oct 10, 2010 11:22 am
Hello,
I'm trying to make a PCB with CNC router and Mach3. I am having a problem with the board position which cannot be setup precisely flat in relation to the milling tool in all its points, which means that you can set the value of Z only in 1 point of the board. As a result there will always be an error in moving the tool on Z axis which will increase with the size of the board. I guess there has to be some programmatic mechanism of compensating that error.
The below image shows the problem when the Z offset on one side of the board is not compensated:
Could anyone help me with setting up Mach3 to compensate this error?
Thanks a lot.
Regards, dmitry

Thank you!

Please try to connect the machine with the "Earth" of the electrical power system.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm using the following model of router: CNC 2016 Router / Engraver Machine + E240 D57 Spindle.
I'll connect it to the ground and give it a try, although I'm not sure how this could help.
Thanks again.
